FAB BOOK...... The Casual Vacancy
If you are a bookwork and want something fresh, here's the latest book from J.K. Rowling, "The Casual Vacancy". The very first fiction novel for adult-only audience from Harry Potter's creator. This is a courageous departure from Rowling.
The Casual Vacancy reads less like a work of fiction and more like a plea for Britain's comfortable middle-class Muggles to be more aware of the obstacles faced by poor children growing up in dysfunctional homes.
The Casual Vacancy centers on the battle for the soul of a little town in England called Pagford. Physically, it's a jewel with a ruined abbey, a historic pub, and a steady stream of tourists. But to some in Pagford, this treasure is marred by "the Fields," a housing project whose residents struggle with crime, drugs, welfare dependency and unstable families.
This issue had long divided the Pagford parish council. One faction wants to foist "the Fields" onto a neighboring city. (Shutting down a center for addicts is another goal.) Barry Fairbrother, having grown up in "the Fields," opposes this group. After Barry drops dead in the opening pages of the book, he leaves behind an empty seat.
The popular and good-hearted Fairbrother also left behind a legacy of kindness. His friends included a tormented assistant school principal with a difficult son, a Sikh woman doctor on the parish council, and, most central — Krystal Weedon. The daughter of a drug addict with various siblings already placed in foster homes, she is part of an infamous clan of ne'er do wells. But Fairbrother, who coached her on a rowing team, saw her sparkle, grit and talent.
As people vie for Barry's seat, Rowling depicts a world of misery at every economic level: Abusive fathers, suicidal teenagers, adulterous husbands. (The Casual Vacancy is not for children or adult readers who don't enjoy dark, gritty drama.)
Rowling lets her agenda drive not just the plot but the characters. The ones who come alive are those sympathetic to "the Fields," i.e., liberals. Those who criticize the residents, i.e., conservatives, are cliched variations of Harry Potter's Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia.
And the poor characters, such as Krystal's drug-addict mother, seem like social pathologies rather than human beings.

Summer is the time of long and glorious days, lazy warm nights and fleeting yet, torrid love affairs. Of course we want to shout out our best summer looks. Unfortunately, hot off the runway and red carpet makeup trends aren't as easily pulled off by us non-models or movie stars. We can't very well show up at the office with neon orange lipstick or pick up a prescription at any beauty shops with our faces coated in silver glitter. Not only are some seasonal trends totally over-the-top for everyday wear, but some of summer's makeup shades and styles look fabulous on some skin tones and not so great on others. So to help navigate your way through the "it" makeup styles for the season of fun in the sun, we found the best looks and colors for your skin tone, so you can ride the latest makeup waves with confidence.
Here you'll find the best summer lip, eye and face makeup looks for your unique skin tone. So go ahead and browse through all the must-try celebrity makeup looks to discover which ones will work best on you. Then, give yourself a sexy summer makeover with the hottest shades under the sun.
1. The Kerry Washington Looks
Looks best on: Medium or dark skin
Why we like it: Summer is a great time to experiment with color, and choosing a shade like purple, makes color wearable for those of us who are over 20.
Quick tip: To keep a bright shadow color in place, prime your lids by dusting them with a loose transparent powder before applying a purple shadow
2. The Kristin Cavallari Looks
Looks best on: Light or medium skin
Why we like it: Pale pink lipstick and lush black lashes make us feel like we are going on Barbie's Dream Vacation. Since we're not, it's also an ideal date-night look.
Quick tip: Lipstick shades will last longer (through eating and smooching) if you first coat your lips with lip liner. Use a nude liner shade before applying a pale lipstick hue
3. The Emmanuelle Chriqui Looks
Looks best on: Medium skin
Why we like it: Nothing says summer more than a bronzed all-over glow, shimmering eyes, and glossy lips. Coco cabana here we come.
Quick tip: To create Chriqui's highlighted glow, finish your bronzed makeup by blending a pearly cream on the tops of your cheekbones, directly under your brow bones, and along bridge of your nose.
4. The Queen Latifah Looks
Looks best on: Dark skin
Why we like it: Silvery hues are a huge trend this summer and look epic (and not disco ball-like at all) when worn on dark, glowing skin. Silver shades are definitely worth a try.
Quick tip: To make a silver eyeshadow to stand out, and to stay on trend, dab a bit of the shimmery hue on the lower inner-corners of your eyes. This will make your eyes look bigger as well -- bonus!
5. The Christina Hendricks Looks
Looks best on: Fair skin
Why we like it: Monochromatic makeup looks are hot right now because they are so easy -- plus punch pink cheeks and lips are a great way to brighten up fair skin.
Quick tip: For an all-over pink look like Hendricks, use a multi-use product that you can apply all over.Tap it onto the apples of your cheeks, your eyelids and lips. To complete the look, apply numerous coats of your favorite black mascara and a high shine pink lip gloss.
6. The Charlize Theron Looks
Looks best on: Light or medium skin
Why we like it: Gold smoky eyes are a summer version of fall's iconic charcoal eye -- and they're gorgeous on medium skin tones.
Quick tip: To keep this look as light as a summer day, follow Theron's lead and only use black eyeliner on the inner rims of your eyes after applying gold shadow liberally to your entire lid. Use waterproof black pencil eyeliner to make your look last.
7. The Camilla Belle Looks
Looks best on: Medium, tan skin
Why we like it: This bright coral pink lipstick hue is fun and sexy -- everything summer should be.
Quick tip: Bronzed skin looks best in varieties of pinky-coral shades like Belle's, so if you have her complexion try a lip color. But if you have light or pale skin, the most flattering shade of coral for you will be a touch more orangey-red.
8. The Cate Blanchett Looks
Looks best on: Fair skin
Why we like it: If you're not lucky enough to have time off work during the summer, this understated silver look is perfect for the office.
Quick tip: The slightly bluish-silver eyeshadow Blanchett is wearing works best on cool skin tones, so if you share her complexion, try silver shadows accented with pale blues or whites. If you have a warmer skin tone, opt for silver shades with touches of bronze.
9. Devon Aoki
Looks best on: Light or medium skin
Why we like it: If you don't want to fuss with much makeup this summer, red lipstick is your answer -- it's on trend and all you need to look gorgeous in seconds.
Quick tip: When you wear a bold red lipstick, keep eyes toned down -- especially during the summer months when heavy makeup is so not cool -- literally. Then, apply a thin winged line of black eyeliner to your upper lash lines. Finish by coating top lashes only with mascara to keep your look fresh.
10. The Heidi Klum Looks
Looks best on: Medium skin
Why we like it: A slightly pink glow and eyelashes for miles will let your natural beauty shine through.
Quick tip: Klum's flawless complexion is what really makes this natural makeup look so beautiful. To get her even skin tone, start by ex-foliating weekly to slough off dull-looking skin. Then use a tinted moisturizer over your entire face to even out your tone and protect your skin. Hide remaining visible under eye circles or blemishes with concealer. Finally, set your face with powder. If you get shiny throughout the day, keep oil-absorbing sheets handy and touch up as needed.
11. The Jessica Alba Looks
Looks best on: Medium skin
Why we like it: Mauve smoky eyes and plump pinky-gold lips are sure to heat things up this summer. In need of a sultry look? You found it.
Quick tip: To get Alba's voluptuous pout, line your lips in a neutral shade that matches your own lip color. Then top the liner with a golden-flecked pink lipstick. Finish by dabbing the middle section of your bottom lip with a bit of high shine gloss for an extra plump, sexy finish.

After choosing the best beach you want to go this summer, now it's time to look for the best beach dresses to impress. For girls, it is always so hard to find the perfect outfit for a day at the beach. You want something comfortable, yet feminine and flattering. Made form light, breezy fabrics, summer dresses are the ideal choice in order to spend an enjoyable day at the beach. There are so many models where to choose from for you to look incredible even on a beach trip.
Choosing the right beach dress can be a tricky business as one needs to take into consideration a wide range of important things. When going at the beach, you first of all want to feel comfortable. This is why you must think of opting for a dress in a light color and fabric. Cotton seems to be the most widely appreciated fabric as it feels soft on the skin. As for the color, even though lighter colors are advisable, if you want to look slimmer you should choose a beach dress in a darker color.
The length of the dress is up to you. Nowadays, there are so many variations when it comes to beach dresses, you just have to go for the perfect one that will allow you too spend an amazing beach trip.
1. White
If there is one color that better characterizes summertime, this is white. For summer 2013, we can even talk about the Little White Dress as a total must. It is not only comfortable, but it also flatters a bronzed skin. Wear it in a hippie, maxi style with flat sandals, or in a simple way by choosing a fresh, short version. If you want to make a statement, go for one made of lace.
2. Flirty mini dresses
Soft and comfortable, floral mini dresses are one of the hottest trends for summer 2013. Large floral prints with vintage inspiration or liberty prints work perfect for girly, youthful looks. You can pull together a very special beach outfit mixing a strapless mini dress with floral prints, a pair of flat sandals, a straw handbag and a Panama hat. This outfit can also be worn as a casual, daytime look, if you match the dress with platform sandals and a blazer.
Floral dresses have always been associated to an innocent and romantic look. Always make sure to choose a dress that flatters ur body shape.
3. Maxi dresses
Not only mini dresses are hot this summer, but also maxi ones. This type of dress is more for the bohemian type of girls. Still, they are extremely feminine and comfy. Made from light fabrics, maxi dresses work amazing with a pair of flat sandals or gladiators. Take oversized sunglasses and a large shoulder bag where you can put a lot of things when going at the beach.
To beat the summer heat, pastels are the best choice when it comes to maxi dresses. If you choose pastels, you can go for sandals in bolder colors. If you want to be trendy, choose a turquoise maxi dress. You can give up to any type of accessories as the color already adds a lot of elegance to your outfit. A long floral dress looks great with a wide belt at the waist.
One helpful piece for you to face summer heat on the beach is the tunic maxi dress. Surprise everyone by wearing a floral tunic dress and a beach hat. They are very comfortable and they allow you to move freely. They come in different patterns and prints, and you can accessorize the look with chunky jewelry. Don't stick to one color, and mix various shades. You can finish the look by choosing a pair of flat sandals and a belt at the waist.
A short tunic with large sleeves will reveal your shoulders in a feminine, sexy way. Choose them in lighter colors with various prints. For perfect day at the beach, a tunic with sailor stripes and a Panama hat will certainly draw all the attention.
Fab Summer Destination----->>>>The Beach!!!
Today is March 1 and it's official summer of 2013 is on. And when we talk about summer it is always related with beaches. So, when traveling the world this summer, you must make a stop in the Philippines. You can affordably stay at any of the best Philippine beach resorts that are available. Here are my Top 10 beaches to choose from that will surely suit to your budget. Besides the prices being of good value, the beaches alone are some of the worlds finest. With white sand, green palm trees and clear blue water theres not a lot of other Island nations in the world that provide this kind of holiday vacation.
1. Boracay Island
Considered as the beach capital of the Philippines. White sand beaches (4-kilometer long), sparkling turquoise waters, mesmerizing sunsets, and a party vibe that caps it all off makes Boracay an unforgettable destination of any beach pilgrim. Boracay has everything that a beach lover could possibly dream of, so be sure to tick it off your bucket list first.
2. Palawan
The word ‘beach’ conjures a tropical Eden that deserves a spot in the movies and in super-glossy magazines. It takes a traveler to set their foot in Palawan to believe that Eden is for real, too. Palawan is the last frontier of the Philippines, and it is abundantly blessed not only with an almost virgin canopy of forest in its interior, but also by limestone karst outcrops that rise from sparkling emerald-turquoise waters and festoon blindingly white beaches. El Nido and Coron are known for their achingly beautiful beach scenery, but in terms of length, nothing beats Long Beach in San Vicente for its 14-kilometer stretch of white sand, outdoing Boracay’s White Beach by 10 kilometers. For those who are willing to part with their precious dollars, Amanpulo in Pamalican Island is nirvana even for the aquaphobic.
3. Island Garden City of Samal
South Sea pearls used to come from one pearl farm-turned-resort found in the island of Samal south of Davao del Norte in Mindanao. But the island’s jewel is not only found underwater; the island is fringed with it. White beaches are a staple of this destination’s growing tourist economy, but they are not as well-trodden as mature destinations, so they still retain that nature-endowed charm.
4. Pagudpod
Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte is an established coastal resort town with a touch of rawness that tourism has not yet totally tarnished. The white sand beaches and sparkling crystal blue waters of Pagudpud could melt any beach lover’s heart at first sight. Blue Lagoon, so named because of its waters, is a secluded spot that is gradually getting attention from investors.
5. Panampangan Island, Tawi-Tawi
Sitting on the edge of southwestern Mindanao off the coast of the municipality of Bongao, Panampangan Island is as unspoiled as any traveler would want their beaches to be. The white shore is largely footprint-free, even though it is only 90 minutes away from civilization. It is surrounded by political hot zones, so it would be wise to tag along a boatload of tourists with military escorts.
6. Panglao Island, Bohol
Panglao Island sits southwest of Bohol Island and east of Cebu in the Philippines. As early as 1803, Chinese, Malaysian and Indonesian visitors came here for sightseeing, the wealth of marine life and trade. As one of the Philippines top tourist destinations, Panglao Island remains famous for its world class dive spots, snorkeling, luscious coral reef and inlets for beach bathing.
7. Caramoan Island, Camarines Sur
CamSur, as the province is more widely known, is a hotspot for surfers, Filipino and foreigners alike. Far off its coast is a place of gentler waves, white sand beaches, towering limestone cliffs, islets and lagoons that make it a paradise for all sorts of water adventures. That place is Caramoan, which is thankfully, still beyond the radar of commercial tourism.
8. Malapascua Island, Cebu
A recent newcomer to the beach scene, Malapascua was only ‘discovered’ in the 1990s so it still has a lot of raw nature appeal that would delight a passionate beach lover. The island’s requisite white beach, coral gardens and teeming shoals beckon water adventurers of all colors and stripes.
9. Camiguin Island
Off the coast of Misamis Oriental is another gem of an island that is getting mainstream attention among beach lovers. Camiguin Island was formed from volcanic activity, and Mt. Hibok-Hibok that towers above the seascape is still an active volcano. White Island is one of the major attractions in the area, a sandbar that changes shapes with the changing tides. Beyond White Island, there is the 10-hectare Jicduf Shoal that is the playground of intrepid underwater adventurers.\
10. Santa Cruz Island, Zamboanga
Little Santa Cruz Island has a beautiful white sand beach instead, & is a military installation. Snorkeling and scuba diving are excellent diversions for the sun worshipers with lots of colorful marine life to experience in excellent water visibility, depending on weather climate. In the Great Santa Cruz Island, there are some covered huts used for picnicking (food & water can be brought in), and adequate bathroom facilities. The Great Santa Cruz Island has a big mangrove-laden lagoon inside where its water level rises & falls with the tide, along with a small Badjao village & their increasingly larger burial ground nearby the mouth opening of the lagoon. The island interior is lushly covered with natural island vegetation and grass, w/ some flowering trees, allowing a welcome shade from the near equatorial sunshine. It is also home to some red mangrove crabs & other sea creatures that seek shelter within its protective lagoon.
So, enjoy the sun now with these beautiful beaches from the Philippines! You'll surely have the great summer adventure that you'll never forget.
